“What I Eat in a Day” – You Need Calories!

You’ve probably heard that the average woman needs about 2,000 calories a day, and 1,500 to lose a pound of weight per week. But is it even healthy to cut that dramatically? Here’s what I eat in a day…

Breakfast:

2 cups of veggies like spinach, asparagus, and tomatoes; 1/2 an avocado; two eggs, a cup of sweet potatoes…and butter for all these!

With this assortment, I get my B and C vitamins, plenty of protein, iron, and fiber… I also get the antioxidant beta-carotene from the sweet potatoes. Studies show that antioxidants found in fruits and vegetables can help fight cancer by lessening the effects of free radical compounds in your body. Sweet potatoes’ SKIN is actually packed with antioxidants, especially the purple sweet potatoes. So sometimes I mix it up, especially since there’s nothing better than a colorful breakfast!!

Also, all the fiber from the fruits and veggies helps aid digestion… and not only does getting enough fiber make your bowels healthy, but it can also protect against heart attacks and cancer. Even more amazingly, factor in the sweet potatoes again, and the phytosterol in those can actually get rid of ulcers! There are lots of things that cause ulcers, including NSAIDs like ibuprofen, so while I recommend consuming as few of those as possible…it’s nice to know that there are superfoods that undo the negative effects of other aspects of our lives!

That’s why what I eat in a day is meant to refresh and detox my body from the stresses of life! πŸ™‚

My thing is, I DON’t like to count calories. I think the best way to get a healthy relationship with portion sizes is just to eat as healthfully as possible, and then listen to your body.

Enter 2B Mindset!

This program is all about PROPORTIONS. It’s just as simple as looking at your plate, and making sure that it has 25% protein, 25% carbs, and 50% veggies. This veggie-heavy lifestyle will bolster your immune system and make you feel awesome both short- and long-term. I say long-term because 2B diet is something you can easily do long-term.

It’s a lifestyle, not a diet!

This program was created by Ilana Muhlstein, MS, who’s a nutritionist. She actually lost 100 pounds on this program…but without the hassle, shame, and restriction-mindset of counting calories.

She calls it an “un-diet.” There are a lot of healthy substitutions that taste great, if you read her meal guide that comes with the program. For example, a plate filled with turnip fries, and with an avocado burger on a whole-wheat bun, fits into the 25% protein, 25% carbs, 50% veggies system. It’s just more creative!!

I’ll also say that with 2B Mindset, you eat more than 1,500 calories a day. With my active lifestyle, and especially when I was pregnant but even after…1,500 calories is not enough! I want to maintain my weight and have enough fuel for the day!

I understand that 1,500 calories is what someone wants to do if they are trying to lose that pound per week…but personally I just don’t recommend it. I think that’s just not enough calories, unless someone is short and not active. For an active woman, no matter her height…for someone who exercises every day…they should not be going below 1,800 – 2,000, in my opinion! What I eat in a day is always at least 2,000!

A program like 2B Mindset can help you easily match an exact calorie intake, without worrying over your calories. Because I know you have better things to worry about! πŸ˜‰
